Mission 

The mission of the Sonoma State University Police Department is to protect the people, property, and educational mission of the university through transparent, accountable, and community-focused policing. 

The Department is committed to serving all individuals with integrity, compassion, and respect, while working collaboratively with the campus community to reduce risk, respond effectively to incidents and emergencies, and promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. 

Vision 

The Sonoma State University Police Department aspires to foster a campus environment in which students, faculty, staff, and visitors are able to learn, live, work, and engage in a setting characterized by safety, inclusion, and trust. Through a community-oriented and evidence-based approach to policing, the Department seeks to strengthen public trust, promote innovation, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, service, and respect for the rights and dignity of all individuals.

Protection of Human Life - The protection of human life is the Department’s highest priority. The Department is committed to preventing harm and safeguarding the well-being of all members of the campus community.
