Visa Certifications
Sonoma State Police Department annually publishes a U and T Visa Certification report in accordance to Penal Code 679.10 and Penal Code 679.11.
Immigration Policy
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines to members of the Sonoma State University Police Department relating to immigration and interacting with federal immigration officials. The CSU Police Department is proud of the diversity of its community and strives to foster a campus environment that is safe and welcoming for everyone. The CSU is committed to assuring an environment where all members of our university community are not hesitant or afraid to come forward or interact with the University Police departments for fear of intervention by ICE. Primary jurisdiction for enforcement of federal immigration laws concerning unlawful entry into the United States rests with ICE, not with the University Police. CSU police officers shall not contact, detain, question or arrest individuals solely on the basis of known or suspected immigration status.
Regulated Equipment and Tools (AB 481)
In July of 2022, the Board of Trustees approved a system-wide Regulated Tools and Equipment policy for its twenty-three (23) Police Departments. This policy was adopted and published as outlined by Assembly Bill 481, and requires every law enforcement agency in the State of California to publish certain information annually regarding specified equipment.
Animals on Campus
The University recognizes that individuals may bring their Domestic, Service, or Assistive Animals to campus and that Wild or Feral Animals may use campus grounds as their habitat. This policy is intended to prioritize the safety and health of students, employees, visitors, and animals on University property.
