About University Police Department

The Sonoma State University Police Department has been a fully sworn law enforcement agency since 1974. The Department is currently authorized 14 full-time sworn positions. The Department has statewide authority, and frequently works with other California State University Police Departments throughout the State.

The Department provides 24/7 law enforcement services to the community. Each patrol shift is lead by a Sergeant, Corporal or designated Officer in Charge. Officers patrol at and around the University, while working closely with surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Training

We train our team to be prepared and effective Police Officers. Advanced officer training opportunities are frequent for our agency.

Specialty Assignments

We offer our team many specialty assignments that include Critical Response Unit Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Rangemaster, Field Training Officer, Detective, and Defensive Tactics instructor.
